Up a hill to the north of Tirana, Albania is a memorial park. It is dominated by the statute of Mother of Albania. Around her are buried some 900 men who lost their lives while defending Albania from Italian and German soldiers during World War II. It was here that Elder Dallin H. Oaks on April 23, 1993 opened Albania to the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Picture is a close-up of the statutes face.

A view from the park site and grave stones.
Mom and President and Sister Niel at site of dedicatory prayer. Elder Oaks stated, "We pray that thou wilt forestall the forces of evil and frustrate every effort that would interrupt the peace and freedom and prosperity of this land."

We got new furniture and curtains for the living room of the apartment. I can tell that mom is starting to really nest in this place.
